About Hurricane Camping

Hurricane Camping is a family-run business.  We  spend much of our time outdoors and since we are located in Tampa, Florida,  we know a bit about hurricanes.  While we are originally from Washington State, our family settled in Florida just before Hurricane Andrew.  We learned quickly as we had to, but we'll share everything we know to help you be prepared for a disaster survival situation. 

We have travelled to some of the remotest places in the world where what you have on your back is what you survive with.  This has taught us valuable lessons...

1) Buy the best equipment you can afford;

2) Use your equipment often- try setting up your shelter in a high wind, lighting a camfire in the rain, etc.  The more you use your camping supplies, the more confidence you'll gain when a disaster strikes;

3) Hurricane preparedness is all about keeping your calm in a potential disaster situation while knowing what you have may be all you can depend on once the storm has passed;

4)  Preparation is the key to disaster survival.
